Favourite Colours

Black, Green and Saffron-coloured clothes were all worn by the Prophet (S.A.W) yet his most favourite and beloved colour was White. Rasoolullah (S.A.W) greatly detested red-coloured clothes.

Once Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (R.A) came to Rasoolullah (S.A.W) while wearing such clothes, when the Prophet (S.A.W) asked, “What kind of clothes are these?” (expressing his dislike for the colour).

The Sahaabi (R.A) then enquired whether he should burn it, the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) replied, “No, give it to a woman to wear. There’s no problem in them wearing such a colour.”

Similarly, the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) once passed by a person wearing two red-coloured clothes. When the man greeted him, Rasoolullah (S.A.W) didn’t respond. (Abu Dawood Shareef, Vol.2, Pg.207-8)

Ring

At the time when Rasoolullah (S.A.W) intended to send letters to kings inviting them towards Islam, the people said, “They shall not accept letters without a seal.” Thus, a silver ring was made and had inscribed on it in three lines Muhammad (S.A.W), Apostle and Allah (S.W.T). (Shamaail Tirmidhi, Pg.7)

Perfume

Rasoolullah (S.A.W) was very fond of Itr (oil based perfume) and always used it, even though his body would emanate a fragrance which scented every alley he walked through.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A) reported that the Messenger of Allah has said, “The perfume for men is that whose odour is apparent but whose colour is hidden, and the perfume for women is that whose colour is apparent but the odour is
hidden (i.e. Henna) .” (Tirmizi and Nasa’ee)

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) would never refuse Itr (perfume) when offered to him and would always say, “Do not refuse a gift of perfume, as it has  come from Jannah.” (Shamaail Tirmidhi, Pg.15)
