Ask The Imam Question and Answer

249 If we should always follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and should not go against it, then why do people read Ishraaq Namaz with Jammat when our Nabi (S.A.W) never did this? Is this against Islamic Teachings?
Bear in mind the principle that everything is permissible unless proven otherwise.

Our Beloved Prophet (S.A.W) did not specifically prohibit reading Nafil in Jammah (congregation) as He 9S.A.W) himself read Nafil in congregation (i.e. the prayer of eclipse).

It is also a Sunnah to read Isharaq Namaz therefore to do so in Jammah has not been specifically prohibited hence it is not against Islamic teaching to do so. Provided that such congregation is not publicised but rather done spontaneously as it is makrooh in the Hanafi Madhab to publicise reading of nafil in congregation.
